The Gruffalo's’ Child trail- Delamere Forest

We went on a Wednesday on a nice autumn day, parking was very available and the charge of £4 for up to 3 hours was fair as the entrance to the trail was free.

It started as soon as you left the car park/visitors Centre and all along the way there were signs to keep going for the Gruffalo, where characters from the books were hidden in the trees. The Owl, snake, fox and friends. The charachters were in sign form and as we were with 3 children just under 3 they were easily spotted and quite real to them. 

There were a handful of picnic benches to stop on route and have our picnic which was a saving grace! Off we went after lunch and eventually found the Gruffalo.

After numerous stops to play in leaves, puddles( Welles advised) and even some log pile houses!! It was lovely for the kids to see a few horses and lots of doggys out for walks too. We didn't take pushchairs but probably could have done with them for after the Gruffalo had been found the interest was lost and the kids were pretty tired and it was a fair walk back. Its a muddy trail however so only a type terrain suitable pushchair would be advised. On-line they mentioned Gruffalo cakes in the café to have as a reward afterwards. We were a little disappointed that these were not available but they had a good selection otherwise so we enjoyed those instead. We really had a lovely time.
