SEALIFE Birmingham
The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham transports visitors into the amazing underwater world showcasing the best of everything from the coast of Britain, to the Antarctic and the Caribbean. Prepare for astonishingly close views of everything from humble starfish to graceful rays and tropical sharks in the UK’s only underwater 360° ocean tunnel. You have the chance to get hands on at our interactive rockpool and come face to face with our colony of cheeky Gentoo Penguins! Watch them swim, slide and socialise in their 70,000 litre home.
New for 2015, Immerse yourself in our dazzling collection of Sea Stars from around the world. Get up close and discover our Sea Star tunnel and peek-a-boo holes. Marvel at the variety of shapes, sizes and colours of the world's largest Sea Stars.
With over 60 displays and more than 2,000 sea creatures, the aquarium is the perfect stop for family fun!
Set in a large, building opposite the Central Pier, you'll notice the SEA LIFE centre by the large statue of Neptune over the door. A perfect day out for families, and one that's fun for all weathers, the SEA LIFE centre has activities for all ages. SEA LIFE has over 50 displays showing sea creatures from around the world, and allows you to see over 2,000 exotic fish, rays, and seahorses under one roof.
At the heart of the SEA LIFE is the glass tunnel set under a huge aquarium, and here you'll be able to get up close to sharks, exotic fish, and turtles. There's a calm atmosphere, where you can watch playful fish swimming around their tank, and enjoy learning about all the different species. The interactive rockpool is also a great chance for kids and adults to learn about the little creatures that live on the beach, and there's the opportunity to touch crabs, starfish, and other rock dwelling sea life. The centre has a daily feeding times and talks, which is a great way to learn about the creatures on display, and to ask the staff questions. School groups can also be accommodated.
The SEA LIFE centre also has shark experiences that can be booked in advance, where adults and older children can enjoy getting as close as possible to these interesting creatures. There's no need for diving experience; you simply don a wet suit and snorkel and can enter the aquarium, sharing the space with sharks and spotting them from the safety of your diving cage.
Open daily and based right on the seafront by the pier, SEA LIFE Brighton is the oldest operational aquarium in the world, and gives a superb insight into life below the sea's surface.
The centre is home to dozens of creatures (around 150 in all) from turtles and seahorses to rays and sharks. It also holds feeding demonstrations, and has interactive rockpools where you can touch starfish and crabs.
A walkthrough tunnel gives visitors the chance to take a walk on the wild side, with the opportunity to see tropical reefs and sharks up close.
Other attractions include the opportunity to get a unique perspective on the ocean from a glass bottom boat, and take in the massive turtles, Jersey and Lulu, as well as tropical sharks, while colourful reef fish shoot past in shoals. You can upgrade your ticket for this attraction on site for a modest extra fee.
New for 2014 is the Rainforest Adventure, where you are welcomed by a Green Anaconda! Poison dart frogs, terrapins, awesome piranhas and water dragons are just some of the things you’ll come across as you step into this world.
The centre, which welcomes school groups and birthday parties, also plays a campaigning role in marine conservation and in working to ban whaling.
The Sea Life centre at Great Yarmouth is a perfect family day out, with something for everyone and fully disabled access throughout.
There are over 1500 creatures living at the centre, from penguins and jellyfish to sharks and lobsters, and much more besides. One of the centre's biggest attractions is the amazing new Ocean Display, an underwater tunnel with 'peek-a-boo' domes that let you view the fascinating sea creatures up close and personal - including a variety of different and colourful starfish! There are also plenty of educational talks and feeding times throughout the day - be sure to check what's happening on the day of your arrival.
There's a tropical rock pool where visitors can get hands on with some of the creatures, an underwater tank where you can feel like you're diving with sharks, and Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre is also home to two African Dwarf Crocodiles - make sure you make time to go and visit them!
The centre also boasts a fantastic cafe offering fresh cooked food daily; hot drinks, snacks and kids eat free deals are available too. There's a wonderful gift shop for some fishy themed treats to take home, and souvenir photos are on offer too.
Set amidst forty-two acres of stunning countryside, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek is Europe's leading seal rescue centre. The Sanctuary is home to a number of stray, sick and injured seal pups that have been rescued from around the Cornish coastline, as well as twenty six other amazing creatures.
In addition to the adorable seals, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary is home to playful penguins, troublesome otters and vociferous sea lions. They live alongside pretty ponies, genial goats, and sheep. There are talks about the animals and feeding sessions running throughout the day, plus many other attractions and special events that will appeal to all the family.
Children love the interactive elements within the sanctuary, such as the chance to touch the starfish and crabs in the rock pool. A pirate-ship themed play area and a quiz trail will keep young visitors occupied for hours.
Adults will enjoy the 'Behind The Scenes Hospital Experience', which gives an insight into the care given to sick seal pups, and is both interesting and informative. There are woodland walks with a river view, which will also appeal to our adult visitors.
The Sanctuary is dog friendly too, so everyone is welcome!
The Sea Life Centre in Hunstanton had to sadly close its doors in 2013 after severe flooding, and the centre's resident seals, penguins and other creatures had to be temporarily re-homed at other sea life centres around the country.
Now they've all come home, and the new-look Hunstanton Sea Life Centre is better than ever! The entire centre has been completely refurbished and there's so much to see and do.
There's a brand new underwater seal viewing area, where visitors can watch the seals playing and swimming through a glass window. Another highlight is the new ray tank, with specially installed curved glass so visitors can really appreciate these fascinating fish. Be sure to make time to check out the otter's new home too - complete with a diving pool, a stream and a waterfall.
Budding marine biologists will love a visit to the Marine Hospital too - it's a chance to see what really happens in a real fish hospital!
For visitors looking to find out more, be sure to make time to hear about the centre's creatures straight from the experts. There are talks about seals, penguins, otters, turtles and sharks at various times through the day, plus the opportunity to get 'hands on' with a wonderful interactive rock pool experience, where you can hold a starfish and touch a crab.
There's also a great gift shop on site to pick up a souvenir or two before you go home.
Come and see a fantastic range of marine life at SEA LIFE Loch Lomond, situated on the beautiful Loch Lomond shores. Among over 5,000 creatures, you will see the only Giant Green Sea Turtle in Scotland.
At this amazing aquarium you can find out about the diversity of underwater life across the entire globe, with seven themed areas representing different ocean climates. Little ones will love getting to pet the friendly critters in the interactive rock pool. That's not even mentioning the natural splendour of the centre’s setting, the loch itself, which can be enjoyed from the Observation Deck.
There’s always special events going on every day, such as feeding demonstrations, informative talks, and a quiz trail. Recently introduced are the VIP Feeding Experiences, where you can get up close and personal with Cammy the Giant Green Sea Turtle or even the sharks in the Ocean Tunnel.
You can enjoy a range of snacks at the cafe or even take in a film at the community cinema. SEA LIFE Loch Lomond is suitable for all visitors and is fully wheelchair accessible.
Based in the heart of town within the County Hall site, on the popular South Bank of the Thames, SEA LIFE London houses one of the biggest displays of international marine life on the world. In terms of the SEA LIFE centres in the UK, it’s truly the jewel in the crown!
With more than two million litres of water on site, this attraction is home to thousands of creatures from the deep, and 500 plus species in all, and they come from across the world.
With sharks alone, for example, there are a dozen varied species and more than 40 to see.
Brave the glass walkway over a shoal of these fascinating animals and see black tip reef and brown sharks swimming just inches below your feet at the Shark Reef Encounter.
In all, there are some 14 themed zones spread across three floors. Plus you don’t just see the underwater creatures behind glass – you get to interact with them at touch pools, public feeding sessions and diving displays.
You can even transport yourself to the unforgiving Antarctic, thanks to a joint effort with the British Antarctic Survey, called Ice Adventure. Travel through a freezing landscape, see the world through snow goggles and dip your hand in icy touch pools. There’s also an ice cave for seeing Gentoo Penguins.
Bear in mind that all visitors younger than 14 must have an adult aged 18 or older with them. Groups and school visits are welcomed at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium.
SEA LIFE Manchester is an entertaining and informative attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to get up close to over 5,000 sea creatures. Located in The Trafford Centre in Manchester, SEA LIFE Manchester displays a wide variety of rescued, rare and unusual creatures, including octopi, jellyfish, sharks and stingrays. As well as showcasing sea creatures to the public, the centre also offers interactive experiences, where visitors can touch and learn about sea creatures, watch them feeding and test their knowledge of sea life with a free kids quiz trail. SEA LIFE is a walkthrough attraction that is suitable for families and children of all ages.
Visitors to SEA LIFE Manchester follow a walkthrough trail that journeys through the various displays. Many of the displays showcase specific sea creatures, such as Turtle Beach, Stingray Bay and Jellyfish Seas. The underwater ocean tunnel gives visitors the memorable experience of walking through a submerged tunnel with sharks and rays swimming overhead. There are plenty of talks and feeding shows throughout the day and children can get the opportunity to touch or hold a crab or starfish at the Interactive Rockpool Experience. SEA LIFE Manchester is also home to Europe’s first sea bed walk. SeaTREK provides one hour of diving experience for anyone over the age of eight years. The attraction allows participants to breathe naturally inside a helmet, allowing you to explore the underwater environment surrounded by fish, turtles and sharks.
The SEALIFE Sanctuary in Oban provides for a wonderful family day out in the picturesque setting of Loch Creran. It is home to a impressive aquarium and Scotland's principal Seal Hospital.
Listen to one of the fascinating regular talks or watch a feeding demonstration as you meet the delightful seals and otters. Learn about the sanctuary’s top twenty creatures as you experience 50 marine displays with awe-inspiring native sharks, enchanting rays and captivating seahorses. Don’t miss out on the amazing interactive rock pool where you can hold crabs and starfish.
Discover local wildlife as you investigate the Nutkins Nature Trail, or have an adventure in the fun-filled Forest Adventure Play Area.
Afterwards, take a welcome rest in the award winning Shoreline Coffee Shop, browse through the gift shop for souvenirs and simply enjoy up the beautiful views of Loch Creran.
The Scottish SEALIFE Sanctuary is suitable for nature lovers of all ages. There really is something for everyone – making it the ideal location for a fun filled family day out. School groups are welcome too, and with all the available facilities it makes for an excellent, fun filled, educational experience.
SEALIFE Scarborough is a family attraction that is the perfect day out for anyone with a curiosity for marine life. Situated on the sea front in the heart of Scarborough, the centre takes visitors on a walk through numerous displays that showcase over 150 species of fish and many other sea creatures, such as seals, sea dragons and clownfish. The experience includes opportunities to touch and interact with sea creatures, witness feeding demonstrations and see rescued sea animals. SEA LIFE Scarborough is an entertaining and educational attraction that can be enjoyed by both adults and children of all ages.
Visitors must walk through various displays that are dedicated to specific sea creatures, including otters, rays and turtles. One section of the trail is a submerged tunnel through which visitors can walk and enjoy the experience of seeing sharks and rays swimming overhead. The centre is also home to Yorkshire’s only Seal Hospital, where rescued seal pups are treated before being released. The Interactive Rockpool gives children the chance to touch and hold crabs and starfish, and there are also plenty of opportunities to see live feeding demonstrations throughout the day. The centre’s newest attraction is Jellyfish Discovery, which gives insight into the mysterious life of jellyfish as they dance through multicoloured tanks. In addition to the sea life displays, SEA LIFE Scarborough also gives visitors the opportunity to pan for gold or test their skills at golf in the Pirate Adventure Mini Golf.
