Alton Towers Resort is a popular theme park that combines thrill rides and family attractions, such as a water park, extraordinary golf, a hotel complex and spa all at one destination. Although famed for its many exciting thrill rides, such as The Smiler and Thirteen, the park also includes live shows, the original Alton Towers estate and gardens, and rides for younger visitors, including the newly opened CBeebies Land. There are also three accommodation options at the resort; the Alton Towers Hotel, the Splash Landings Hotel and the Enchanted Village, allowing visitors to take short breaks at the park.
Alton Towers Resort has numerous thrill rides, which aim to give visitors the ultimate adrenaline rush. A favourite such as the Nemesis is an incredibly fast rollercoaster experience which reaches G-forces that rival a space shuttle launch. Among the park’s white knuckle rides are Thirteen rollercoasters that venture through the Dark Forest, and new to the park is The Smiler, the world’s first 14 looping rollercoaster. You can also face your fears by staring down into the depths of Oblivion or soar through the sky on Air.
For younger visitors and families, Alton Towers Resort has a variety of fun attractions to create an exciting day. For the whole family, there are plenty of exhilarating rides, like the Congo River Rapids and the Runaway Mine Train. You can enjoy a 4D cinematic experience in the Ice Age 4D Experience or sail high across the park in the gentle Skyride. There is also a Driving School for youngsters and plenty of character themed rides in the new CBeebies Land.
Alton Towers Resort is close to the village of Alton in Staffordshire, between the M1 and M6, and can easily be reached by car. The park has a number of onsite car parks, where you can leave your car before taking the monorail to the park entrance. You can also take a train to Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and Uttoxeter, where public transport can take you to the resort.
